Fox Run Vineyards, Cabernet Franc 2013, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: An elegant cabernet franc from the New York Finger Lakes whose fruit profile will transport you to Burgundy.
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of red plum, red cherry, kirsch with hints of violet.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied wine has a silky mouthfeel with ripe, yet restrained red fruit flavors suggested on the nose.
The wine is medium in tannin and acidity with an understated fruit profile reminiscent of a pinot-noir and gamay blend (aka a passetoutegrains blend from Burgundy).
There is balance between the acidity and fruit.
Well made.
Bottle Note: One of the Finger Lakes’ finest grape varieties, cabernet franc consistently yields a rich and complex red wine worthy of extended barrel aging. The wine in this bottle will reward you with distinctive flavors suggesting violets, plums and black currants.
