Tasting Note: This pinot noir from the Martaella Vineyard showcases Gary Farrell’s just-ripened, yet-reserved, pinot-noir style that is fruit-affirmative without being fruit-forward.

Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red-cherry compote, black plum, cassis, black olive, strawberry, forest floor and violets with hints of vanilla baking spice.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied pinot noir has medium-intensity, red-and-black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium tannin.

The midpalate is reminiscent of fruit punch with some savory undertones.

Give this wine some time to open up in your glass or better yet, decant.
