Gerd Anselmann Dornfelder 2012 – Moldy, Cheesy

Gerd Anselmann, Dornfelder 2012, Pfalz, Germany, Wine Casual

Gerd Anselmann, Dornfelder 2012, Pfalz, Germany

Tasting Note: Moldy, cheesy. Round. Sweet.

Not complex in the way some other dornfelders are on the finish. Soft, drinkable, non-distinctive.

Lags behind the bottom third of the pack. Pass for now, but perhaps future vintages will be better. Fruit on the nose – hints of strawberry, maybe peach. Stinky cheese aftertaste. Watery.

This wine is the same at the beginning of the taste as it is at the ending. A disappointment for now but up is the opportunity level in front of it.

Bottle Note: This wine is made from Dornfelder grape variety which ripens best in the Pfalz wine growing ares. Deep, red-violet colour, low tannin, tender in taste, good body. Please serve well chilled between 60 degrees Fahrenheit. This wine is a good partner with roasts, game and flavorful cheese. Qualitatswein.
