Herdade do Rocim, Mariana 2020, Vinho Regional Alentejano, Portugal, Wine Casual

Tasting Note: A good Portuguese white blend that is a versatile midweek-meal partner.

Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has a medium-intensity nose of green apple, lemon citrus and blossom.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied white blend has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and completing with a lemon-citrus-infused, medium finish.

The wine is steely in texture, straightforward and good in its dimension.

Bottle Note: From the terraces of the Rocim Winery, you can see the tower of Beja Castle, reminding us of Mariana Alcoforado, the cloistered nun as she wrote to her lover. Mariana is author of Letters of a Portuguese Nun, a famous classic of universal literature. “I see quite well that I love you like crazy. However, I won’t complain from the violence of my heart raptures (. . .).” Antão 60%, Arinto 30%, Alvarinho 10%.
