Hermann J. Wiemer, Frost Cuvée 2013, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: An aromatic field blend that sings of summer.
Medium-intensity gold in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of white-rose petal, lychee, candied green apple, quince compote, white nectarine and summer pear.
On the palate the off-dry, medium-plus-bodied white blend has medium-plus flavor intensity supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium-plus finish.
The wine is creamy in texture with midpalate complexity undergirded by ripe fruit throughout the length of the taste.
The wine has aged well since I first tasted it in 2015.
Bottle Note: This beautiful, off-dry blend of riesling, chardonnay and gewürztraminer elegantly combines the best character of what each grape has to offer every vintage. The result is an exciting, zesty wine – fresh on the palate with a lingering gentle finish that pairs with a myriad of food options, making it the perfect choice for any occasion. Gewürztraminer 8%, riesling 8%, gruner veltliner 5%, sauvignon blanc 7%, chardonnay 65%. Seneca Lake AVA. RS: 1.2%.
