Januik, Bacchus Vineyard Riesling 2016, Columbia Valley, Washington

Tasting Note: A Columbia Valley riesling with a generous nose that channels the Mosel.

Pale-intensity lemon-green in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of fuji apple, pear, lime-zest, petrol, gooseberry, blossom and white peach.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied riesling has medium-plus-intensity, green-and-tropical-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and completing with a medium-plus, lemon-citrus finish.

The wine is steely in texture with some moments of chalkiness percolating from the mid-to-back palate.

An old-world-leaning riesling that reveals the grape’s new world.
