Lucas Vineyards, Limited Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: While this cabernet sauvignon has elements of Old World style, it is ultimately expresses a restrained New World sensibility but done in a cold-climate style.
This ruby-colored cabernet sauvignon has a nose of muted black fruit reminiscent in part of a European-styled red.
Blackberry, red cherry and earthy aromas show on the nose along with some vanilla notes.
Velvety black fruit delivers on the palate in a muted style as suggested on the nose showing underneath a layer of secondary aging that includes soft, structured, medium-plus tannin that kicks in at the 70% point length of the taste and can be felt towards the back of your mouth through to a medium-plus to long finish.
A reserve cabernet for those who enjoy some mid-palate complexity in a medium-bodied red that provides an alternative to big, fruit-forward, alcoholic cabernets that deliver punch above all else.
Bottle Note: This concentrated red combines ripe red currant and cedar aromas with blackberry fruit on the palate. Enjoy with grilled New York Strip steak.
