Matetic Vineyards, EQ Coastal Sauvignon Blanc 2020, Hermoso Valley, Casablanca Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: A substantial sauvignon blanc with welcome complexity and well-integrated flavors.
Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of fuji apple, forest floor, crushed stone, lemon zest and blossom with herbal notes.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied sauvignon blanc has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and completing with a forest-floor-infused, medium-plus finish.
A solid sauvignon blanc for the price point that will impress both the wine newbie and wine expert in your midst.
Bottle Note: EQ stands for Equilibrio, the Spanish word for “balance.” The windswept vineyard of Valle Hermoso, just 13 km from the Pacific Ocean gives birth to this expressive sauvignon blanc. The cool-climate and strong coastal winds, help to control the natural vigor of the vines, thus achieving a perfect balance between plant growth and fruit ripeness. Valle Hermoso delivers an elegant and nuanced wine, both fresh and ripe with underlying minerality. Soils: Decomposed granite & iron-rich mica. Blocks: 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306. Clones: 1.242. Yield: 6 ton/ha. Winemaking: A small portion of wine was fermented in French oak barrels and concrete eggs. The rest was kept on the lees for 4 months. Made with organic grapes.
