Millbrook Cabernet Franc 2013 – An Enjoyable, Aromatic Cab Franc

Millbrook, Cabernet Franc 2013, New York, Wine Casual

Millbrook, Cabernet Franc 2013, New York

Tasting Note: A winning cabernet franc from New York’s Hudson Valley.

Deep-ruby in color, this cab franc is highly-aromatic with black fruit aromas including blackberry, blueberry and red plum.

In your mouth, this dry, fruit-forward cab franc registers as medium bodied.

Beginning mid-palate, medium-plus acidity begins to register and fades revealing flavors suggested on the nose along with the added flavor of red cherry. Whereas many cab francs are straight forward, Milbrook’s cab franc shows complexity and depth.

For a cool fall Halloween evening as trick-or-treaters ring my doorbell, this seems the perfect seasonally-appropriate wine to be enjoying between intermittent runs to the front door.

Bottle Note: Cabernet franc performs exceptionally well in our vineyards and produces a fine varietal wine. Elegant flavors of red berry fruits are enhanced by complex aromas of spice and plum. Grape Varietals: Cabernet Franc 75%, Merlot 25%. Harvest Date: October 15-24, 2013, Harvest Brix: 22.4°, Malolactic Fermentation: 100%, Barrel Regimen: Aged 11 months, Bottling Date: November 2014, Case Production: 1,271 Cases.
