Pisano, Río De Los Pájaros Reserve Torrontés 2019, Progreso, Uruguay

Tasting Note: Don’t sleep on torrontés from Uruguay.

Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-intensity nose of golden apple, pear, orange zest, tangerine, white peach and pineapple.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied torrontés has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and completing with a citrusy, medium finish.

The wine is straightforward and aromatic as is the variety’s signature.

This vintage is somewhat muted as opposed to the 2014 and 2015 vintages.

Bottle Note: Uruguay means River of Painted Birds in the native language of Guarani. Amongst our rolling hills and thousands of small rivers, birds live freely and fish are abundant. Resting on the Atlantic Ocean between 30° and 35° parallel, Uruguay shares the same latitude with the ultimate wine-growing regions of the Southern Hemisphere. The cool weather, rolling hills and maritime climate make it especially fit for the cultivation for grapes. Pisano belongs to the small group of family vignerons with an artisan tradition of producing wines that reflect the character of the land and the people who make them. Our history began in 1870 with the arrival of our Italian great grandfather Don Francesco Pisano to Uruguay. The family winemaking tradition continued with our grandfather Don Cesare and our father Cesar Pisano who set high standards for the Pisano Family Vineyards & Cellars. Today we three brothers are proud to continue our family tradition by producing one of the most prestigious wines in our country. Daniel, Eduardo & Gustavo Pisano-Arretxea.
