Porta, Reserva Carmenere 2019, Maipo Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: A plump, Chilean carmenere with inky, concentrated fruit and structure.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blueberry, blackberry puree, raspberry, rhubarb, cassis, black currant and black plum and black olive.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied carmenere has medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium-plus tannin ultimately completing with a medium-plus finish.
The wine has hints of Chilean carmenere’s signature green-pepper leaf which rides under the robust fruit.
A carmenere that sings.
Bottle Note: This wine offers intense, complex aromas such as red and black fruit, spice, black pepper and cassis. The juicy palate presents good structure, soft tannins, big volume and an intense, well-balanced finish.
