Quinta das Carvalhas 10 Year Tawny Port – Flavor Complexity and Still-Youthful Tannin

Quinta das Carvalhas, 10 Year Tawny Port, Douro, Portugal, Wine Casual

Quinta das Carvalhas, 10 Year Tawny Port, Douro, Portugal

Tasting Note: Medium-intensity tawny in color, this wine has a medium-plus-intensity nose of prune, black plum, red cherry, fig, walnut, almond and toast.

On the palate the medium-sweet, full-bodied Port is medium in acidity with grippy, medium-plus tannin.

The wine is high in alcohol with aromas suggested on the nose continuing to the palate as flavors along with dried-violet petal.

The fortified wine has a long finish and is very good in quality because of the complexity of flavor and still-youthful tannin structure.

Bottle Note: This is one of the oldest Quintas in the Douro Valley, as well as one of the best located. Written references about Quinta Das Carvalhas describing its prominent position on the left bank of the Douro River can be tracked back to 1759.
