Quinta Das Carvalhas, Branco 2015, Douro, Portugal

Tasting Note: A robust, full-throttle white blend from Portugal with attractive notes of development.

Medium-to-deep intensity gold in color, this wine has an aromatic, pronounced-intensity nose of quince, caramelized-baked golden apple, lemon-citrus zest and dried apricot with hints of brioche.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied white blend has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose with some additional notes of almond and caramel.

The wine is medium in acidity with a creamy texture and completes with a long finish.

There is midpalate complexity, development and marmalade.

A complex white from the Douro.

Bottle Note: Quinta Das Carvalhas is the most emblematic and spectacular property in the Douro Valley. Written references about this magnificent vineyard can be traced back to 1759. The white grapes are located at the top of the estate benefiting from a cooler climate and fresher breezes which contributes to craft the level of acidity and minerality. 50% Gouveio, 50% Viosinho. Full bodied, concentrated, refined and mineral white wine with concentrated white fruits and butterfish notes, finishing fresh and with persistency. 8 months in oak barrels. Fish dishes, pastas and soft cheeses.
