Quinta Das Carvalhas, Touriga Nacional 2016, Douro, Portugal
Tasting Note: A serious, red-wine-drinker’s wine with complexity that shows this premium Douro grape in prime form.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, blackberry puree, raspberry preserve, black currant and dried violet blossom.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied Touriga Nacional has medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and grippy, ripe, medium-plus tannin.
There is midpalate complexity, depth and congruence between the fruit and tannin structure.
What cabernet sauvignon drinkers are missing.
