R.L. Buller & Son, Fine Muscat, Victoria, Australia
Tasting Note: In Australia they call fortified muscat wines “stickies,” and when you taste this concentrated, solera-blended, oxidatively-aged fortified wine you’ll experience the concentrated, fruit flavors this style of wine is known for.
Medium-tending-towards-deep-intensity amber in color, this wine has an aromatic, pronounced-intensity nose of raisin, caramel, dried apple, toast, marmalade, blossom and dried fig.
On the palate the luscious, full-bodied muscat is medium in acidity with pronounced-intensity flavors suggested on the nose as well as cooked-peach stone fruit, butterscotch, honey and dried apricot.
The wine has a mouthcoating texture, high alcohol and a long, dried-fruit-infused finish.
The muscat is very good in quality because of its flavor concentration and varietal typicity.
Bottle Note: At Bullers we still use traditional methods to produce our premium muscats. The grapes are hand picked at our non-irrigated vineyard. In the winery the skins are gently pressed to extract flavor without unwanted tannins or bitterness. The wine is aged in hogsheads and blended in a solera system. 375 ml bottle.
