Ravines, Cabernet Franc 2013, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: An elegant aromatic cab franc from the Finger Lakes.
Red and black fruit in near equal proportions jump out on the nose of this deep ruby-colored cabernet franc, one of the deepest colored cab francs you will find along the color spectrum in the cool-climate Finger Lakes.
There is blackberry, raspberry and black cherry, and there is also baking spice – vanilla and nutmeg with just a touch of clove.
The aromas on the nose continue to the palate on this dry, medium-bodied wine of medium acidity and tannin. Baking spices register towards the 80% point of the taste, and fade with acidity on the finish.
Bottle Note: Ravines Wine Cellars rests on a hillside overlooking glacier-carved Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes wine region of New York State. Our cool growing season, sloped vineyard sites and moderating effects of the deep lakes create ideal conditions for producing vibrant, balanced and food-friendly wines. We are a small, family-owned winery dedicated to the craft of fine, classical winemaking, wines that express the unique qualities of the vineyard sites, the growing season, and the wine maker’s vision. Ravines cabernet franc is deliciously fruit-forward and spicy with perfect balance, soft tannins and a round mouthfeel.
