Ravines, Meritage 2011, Finger Lakes, New York

Tasting Note: A meritage blend that presents restrained black fruit and a slightly grippy texture.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of just-ripened black plum, black currant, kirsch, blackberry and vanilla baking spice.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied meritage expresses fruit flavors suggested on the nose with some under-ripe black fruit notes supported by medium acidity and slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin.

There is balance between the fruit and acidity coupled with somewhat-restrained flavor concentration.

Bottle Note: Ravines Wine Cellars sits on a hillside overlooking glacier-carved Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes Wine Region of New York State. Our long, cool growing season, steep slopes and moderating effect of the deep lakes create ideal conditions for producing fresh, vibrant, food-friendly wines. We are a small, family-owned winery dedicated to crafting European-style wines that convey balance, elegance and our unique sense of place. Ravines Meritage is a classic blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot aged in fine oaks barrels and is well suited to cellar aging. Ripe, fruit, smooth tannins and impeccable balance make this Meritage an interesting and unforgettable wine.
