Saget La Perrière, Marie de Beauregard Chinon 2014, Loire, France

Tasting Note: A Chinon that stands above — fullstop.

Medium-intensity ruby in color this wine has a pronounced, aromatic nose of raspberry, pencil shavings, black plum, forest floor, black cherry, earth and black tea.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied cabernet franc shows classic Chinon flavors in a concentrated style with velvety, medium-plus, ripe tannin.

Aromas on the nose continue in magnitude and strength on the palate.

The wine is medium-plus in acidity with the graphite, pencil shaving, and damp forest floor aromas showing even more strongly on the palate.

This cabernet franc has a simultaneously elegant, yet rustic mouthfeel that pleases the senses.

A Chinon to repeat.
