Saltare, Brut Reserve 2016, South Africa
Tasting Note: An MCC South African Sparkling Brut abounding with classic lees notes that are highlighy reminiscent of Champagne.
Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has a medium-plus-intensity, aromatic nose of brioche, toast and caramel.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied brut is filled with yeasty flavors and hints of golden-and-green fruit.
The wine is medium-plus in acidity and well balances fruit and acidity wrapped in creamy lees notes.
The grapes are from Elgin and no dosage is added to the wine.
Bottling Note: Saltare signifies movement, grace and simplicity. The name Saltare means “to dance” in Latin. The Brut Reserve is a zero dosage MCC that spends three years on the lees for a fuller, rounded style.
