Salustri, Marleo Rosso 2018, Montecucco DOC, Tuscany, Italy
Tasting Note: Italian wines should nearly always be enjoyed with food and this red would pair with many a dish (including the Coq au Vin I’m enjoying tonight).
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has a medium-intensity nose of red cherry, red plum, violet petal, strawberry and raspberry preserve.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied wine has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin completing with a medium-plus finish.
The wine is mostly straightforward in profile with nice red-fruit running just above the acid structure.
A solid Italian red.
