Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Barrel Reserve Serres Ranch Vineyard, Merlot 2012, Sonoma Valley, California

Tasting Note: Shows what fine merlot could be if you’d only drink it again.

Deep-intensity ruby in color this wine has an aromatic, pronounced nose of black plum, blackberry and red cherry along with clove and cinnamon baking spice.

On the palate, the dry, medium-plus bodied merlot is smooth in texture with ripe, silky, medium tannin and acidity.

The wine has structure and mid-palate complexity with good balance between its fruit and tannin character.

A smooth merlot with loads of flavor intensity and finesse.

Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classic blends. This 100% merlot from Sonoma Valley’s idyllic Serres Ranch tantalizes the senses with minty tea, plummy aromas, and flavors of dark dusty blackberry fruit laced with subtle herbs and truffles. It finishes with long and soft, smoky and dry. We enjoy it with grilled steak, beef stroganoff, beef Bourguignon, or any beef entrée. Only 200 Cases made.
