Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Shanti Vineyard, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California
Tasting Note: A sauvignon blanc with ripe, orchard fruit and some tropical-fruit hints.
Medium-intensity lemon in color, this wine has a medium-intensity nose of crabapple, white peach, Asian pear, orange-and-lime zest and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied sauvignon blanc has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose along with starfruit and honeydew supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium finish.
The wine has depth of flavor yet is bright and cheerful.
A good, layered sauvignon blanc.
Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classic blends. This classic white Bordeaux-style sauvignon blanc of medium body is delicious on its own as well as the perfect complement to salads, light flaky fish, and any savory first course. A lively nose of kiwi and pink grapefruit leads to a grassy, flinty, citrus ensemble on the palate. Cleansing and whetting the palate at the same time with just a hint of lychee, this pleaser offsets the spice in Thai cuisine. It also goes well with cream chowders, Munster cheese, chicken Cesar salad, smoked salmon, lobsters, French onion soup, beef, grilled asparagus spears and spinach salad. Frane Franicevic, Winemaker.
