Sunce Winery & Vineyard, White Meritage 2012, North Coast, California

Tasting Note: A sauvignon blanc and semillon blend made in white Bordeaux’s image – successfully.

Medium-intensity gold in color, this wine has a nose of green apple, golden pear, blossom and nectarine.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied meritage blend delivers fruit and blossom flavors suggested on the nose.

The wine is creamy in texture and is supported by medium-plus acidity.

The ripe-fruit flavors balance well with the acidity creating a flavorsome taste profile that would match well with many a meal.

Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County-specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classic blends. Steve Sagehorn’s 85% Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc is blended with 15% Semillon from Napa Valley, making a medium bodied fruity, yet dry white Bordeaux-style wine. It is delicious on its own and the perfect complement to salads and light flaky fish. Also great with any light, savory first course. A lively nose of kiwi and pink grapefruit leads to a grassy, flinty citrus ensemble on the palate. Clean and appetizing, this wine cleanses and whets the palate at the same time. Frane Franicevic, Winemaker. 85% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Semillon.
