Trinity Hill, Syrah 2016, Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

Tasting Note: A Northern-Rhone syrah masking as New Zealand syrah.

A syrah with an elemental, earthy quality underpinned by a streak of florality.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, dried-crushed violet blossom, granite, blackberry and bramble with the primal elements you get in Northern-Rhone syrah.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied syrah is filled with a perfumed, wild-flower bouquet and medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin.

Bottle Note: The Gimblett Gravels winegrowing area is a small sub-region in the Hawke’s Bay of New Zealand defined by a very unique stony soil type. Deposited by a wandering river these soils have been internationally recognized for their potential to produce premium wines of individual character and personality. The superb, dry and warm 2016 vintage enabled our Gimblett Gravels vineyards to be harvested at a perfect time and with excellent flavor development. Red licorice, black pepper and Provencal herb element are prominent. Combined with good acidity, these characteristics mean excellent aging potential. The wine will continue to improve for a further 5-7 years. An excellent match with full flavored red meat and game. Lot Number L7177.
