Troon Vineyard Malbec 2014 – Reveals Malbec’s Floral Side

Troon Vineyard, Malbec 2014, Rogue Valley, Oregon, Wine Casual

Troon Vineyard, Malbec 2014, Rogue Valley, Oregon

Tasting Note: An Oregon malbec that will convince you that Argentina doesn’t get to have all the malbec fun there is to be had.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of black currant, black plum preserve, raspberry puree, blossom and kirsch.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied malbec delivers black fruit flavors suggested on the nose, supported by medium acidity and velvety, medium-plus tannin.

There is balance between the ripe fruit and tannin structure, mid-palate complexity and varietal typicity that reveals malbec’s floral side.

Bottle Note: Malbec loves the granitic soils washed down from the Siskiyous, in the highlands above the tributaries of the Rogue River. Grapes from the Varner-Traul Vineyard in Talent, and our own Troon Vineyard were fermented separately, then blended together after barrel aging. With raspberry fruit aromas, and rounded tannins carry the deep, vibrant fruit into the finish.
