W & J Graham’s Six Grapes, Reserve Ruby Port, Portugal
Tasting Notes: A Reserve Port with a lively fruit character.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has a medium-intensity nose of blackberry, rhubarb, dried cherry and fig.
On the palate the medium-sweet, medium-plus-bodied Port has medium-intensity, red-and-black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by slightly-grippy, medium tannin ultimately completing with a medium finish.
The wine is mostly straightforward and would work well both as an aperitif or post meal drink.
I poured a little Port at the bottom of a sparkling-wine glass and topped it off with cava to make nice a Port Bellini which was delicious.
Bottle Note: The Six Grapes symbol has always been used by Graham’s to classify its wine on a scale of one to six, Six Grapes therefore denotes the lots of the highest quality. Sourced from the Graham’s four key estates, the grapes with most concentration, structure and brightest fruit are selected. Six Grapes is a full-bodied wine with rich black fruit flavors, fragrant cherry and ripe plum aromas. The perfect accompaniment to dark chocolate desserts. No need to decant. Once opened enjoy within 4-6 weeks.
