Waltz Vineyards, Baron Red Merlot-Cabernet 2016, Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Tasting Note: A merlot-cabernet-sauvignon blend with refinement and elegance.

Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has a medium-plus-intensity nose of red plum, red cherry, bramble and violet petal.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied red blend has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus-acidity and slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin.

There is midpalate complexity and balance between the fruit and tannin structure.

Bottle Note: 65% Merlot. 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. Our 2016 Baron Red is a blend of hand harvested merlot and cabernet sauvignon grown on our sixth generation Lancaster County farm in Manheim, Pennsylvania. This wine is full bodied, fruit forward, dry red wine that was aged 24 months in French oak. 645 cases produced. Jan and Kimberly Waltz.
