Warwick Valley Winery Cabernet Franc 2014 – Fruit Takes a Back Seat to Acidity

Warwick Valley Winery, Cabernet Franc 2014, New York, Wine Casual

Warwick Valley Winery, Cabernet Franc 2014, New York

Tasting Note: A mostly straight-forward, enjoyable, cab franc from the Hudson Valley.

This ruby-to-purple colored cabernet franc has a nose of black fruit including blackberry, black currant and clove and cinnamon baking spice.

On the palate the wine is slightly tart with medium-plus acidity kicking in between the mid-palate and 70% point of the taste.

Fruit flavors take a back seat to acidity highlighting the cab franc’s palate cleansing qualities.

Bottle Note: The 2014 vintage is crafted from 100% Finger Lakes grown cabernet franc, fermented in stainless and then barrel aged for 6 months. Fruit forward and soft on the palate this wine offers exquisite aromas of black currant and black cherry with subtle oak notes. When matched with red meats, wild game or cheese, this wine serves as the perfect companion. Drink now or cellar through 2017. Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery began as an apple and pear orchard.
