Waterkloof Circumstance Cabernet Franc 2014 – A Subtle Connection with Chinon

Tasting Note: One feels a subtle connection with Chinon with this cabernet franc that delivers some of the Loire’s signature qualities but in a decidedly warmer-climate, uniquely-South-African style.

Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, raspberry, pencil shavings and cedar.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied cabernet franc delivers ripe, yet restrained black fruit flavors suggested on the nose along with smooth, ripe, supple, medium-plus tannin that lends structure to the wine.

Bottle Note: “Who does the best that circumstances allow, does well, acts nobly, angels could no more.” – Edward Young. Ultimately only a wine that respects its sense of place and the happy combination of fortuitous circumstances that mold individuality, will truly give pleasure. Unique circumstances of soil and climate, traditional winemaking techniques and careful maturation were the keys to this truly fine wine.
