Weingut Höpler, Pannonica Red Blend 2013, Austria
Tasting Note: You’ve likely never experienced a fruity, zesty red blend from Austria composed of zweigelt, blaufrankisch and pinot noir, and this blend is a great one to try and serve slightly chilled in summer.
Medium-intensity ruby in color this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, red cherry and strawberry.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied red presents an amalgam of red and black fruit flavors from the component grape varietals presenting a unique flavor profile somewhat reminiscent of the rare, Burgundian passetoutgrain blend of gamay and pinot noir.
The wine is fresh, bright, and vibrant and completes with a medium-finish.
Impress a wine geek in your life.
Bottle Note: Pannonica is an Austrian Cuvee made from Blaufrankisch (40%), Zweigelt (35%) and Pinot Noir (25%). It is dark garnet ruby color, with flavors of juicy blackberries, hints of spice and soft tannins.
