Whitecliff Vineyard, Cabernet Franc 2014, Hudson River, New York
Tasting Note: A cabernet franc from the Hudson Valley that reveals a New York state expression of the grape.
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of red plum, red cherry, blossom, rosebud and vanilla and clove baking spice.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied cabernet franc shows fruit flavors suggested on the nose along with some midpalate notes of complexity.
The wine is medium-plus in acidity, medium in concentration and completes with a medium-plus, floral finish.
Bottle Note: Cabernet Franc is a terrific grape for New York’s climate, and produces a delicious wine to complement a meal. With muscular tannins and ripe fruit, it has the rich flavors of a Cabernet Sauvignon without the weight. From lamb to eggplant, or steak to pasta, our estate bottled Cab Franc is the perfect food wine. Whitecliff is . . . Regional: Many of our wines are estate bottled, and all of them are fermented and blended right here. Artisinal: Hand-crafted in small batches. Authentic: Your romantic ideal of a small family winey is alive here at Whitecliff!
