Whitecliff Vineyard, Pinot Noir 2013, Hudson River Region, New York

Tasting Note: An aged Hudson Valley pinot noir that shows the benefit of development with time.

Medium-intensity ruby in color with some garnet around the edges, this wine has a nose of red cherry, strawberry, forest floor, red currant and cherry blossom.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied pinot noir has a smooth texture with just-ripened, reserved, medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium finish.

The wine has some midpalate complexity and integration between the fruit and tannin structure.

Bottle Note: Pinot noir is a graceful red that is light, full of flavor, and never heavy. This wine’s bright strawberry color, soft fruit, spicy tannins and zesty acidity are a lovely expression of the grape, and of New York’s cool climate wines. Pinot noir pairs well with a wide range of foods, from rack of lamb to chicken with wild mushrooms, and everything in between. Whitecliff is . . . . Regional: Many of our wines are estate bottled, and all them are fermented and blended right here. Artisanal: Hand-crafted in small batches. Authentic: Your romantic idea of a small family winery is alive here at Whitecliff.
