Tasting Note: Having recently returned from a visit to the Finger Lakes, I’m excited to continue to expand my Finger Lakes wine repertoire – especially in the cab franc and rosé categories which combine both interests.

Anthony Road, Rosé of Cabernet Franc 2014, Finger Lakes, New YorkThe nose of this salmon-colored rose present with an aroma that is instantly recognizable as cab franc. Cherry and strawberry aromas dance on the nose of this rose.

While red fruit – cherry, strawberry with a dash raspberry – is definitely a part of the rosé’s core fabric, it is the balance between the dryness and unified-fruit that shines and impresses the most.

Neither overwhelms the other – and both stand as equals creating a harmonic rosé experience.

If cab franc is an important part of the Finger Lake’s future (as I contend), then cab franc rosés are a natural extension and rosés made at Anthony Road Cellars are definitely one of the ones to watch.
