Tasting Note: New world cabernet franc is popping up more and more, and this basic bottle from Argentina presents many of the underpinnings of Argentina’s unique cabernet franc style.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, pronounced-intensity nose of black plum, fresh violet blossom, bramble, blackberry and raspberry puree.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-to-full-bodied cabernet franc delivers ripe, medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin.

The wine is mostly straightforward in flavors profile but with a deep concentration of flavor.

A good hearty cabernet franc to pair with many a meal.

Chill before serving to sharpen the acidity.

Bottle Note: There are my loyal companions at work. And silent guards of my treasure. Their place is in my cellar. And their mission, to care for the wine. La Mascota cabernet franc has been produced in very limited quantities from our finest vineyard, named La Mascotat, situated in Cruz de Piedra, Maipú, one of the oldest and most prestigious wine regions in Mendoza. This cabernet franc expresses aromas of black fruit, with green and red pepper standing out in its spicy nose. Its smooth tannins and lingering finish with smoky and coffee notes are the result of aging for 6 months in French oak barrels. A.k.a. Rodolfo Sadler, Master Winemaker.
