Barbadillo, Oloroso Sherry, Andalucía, Spain

Tasting Note: A good weekday Oloroso that proves that Sherry is for the proletariat.

Amber in color, this wine has a medium-plus-intensity nose of brioche, toasted almond, butter, vanilla baking spice, toast and walnut.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied Oloroso Sherry has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose ultimately completing with a toasted-nut-infused, medium-plus finish.

The wine is straightforward and evokes many classic Oloroso elements.

Bottle Note: Full-flavored, dry and nutty. Aged in casks in the traditional Solera system within the ancient cathedral style cellars of Barbadillo, this wine was allowed to oxidize slowly over many years to attain its rich aroma. Oloroso means aromatic. This aging process gives this Sherry its dark amber color, rich walnut aroma and deep, generous flavors. This is pure unsweetened Oloroso so dry to taste. Serve at cellar temperature, on its own, or for something different try as a great food match with sirloin steak or other hearty dishes such as a traditional stew. Perfect with mature cheeses. Estate bottled by Bodega Barbadillo, producers of the finest sherries since 1821.
