Camp More, Barbera d’Asti 2016, Piedmont, Italy
Tasting Note: Barbera in d’Asti gets the prime, south-facing hillside sites, and this bottle shows what’s possible when crop positioning, vintage and expert winemaking all come together.
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red cherry, strawberry, red plum, blossom and hibiscus.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied wine had medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and slightly-grippy, medium tannin.
There is midpalate complexity and floral notes running throughout the length of the taste punctuated by red fruit.
I adore Barbera d’Asti, and especially this one.
