Canoe Ridge Vineyard, The Expedition Merlot 2018, Horse Heaven Hills, Washington
Tasting Note: A versatile, medium-throttle merlot that could be paired with many a dish or enjoyed by itself or at a cocktail party.
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, red currant, red cherry, strawberry and white blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied merlot has medium-intensity, red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity, and ripe medium tannin ultimately completing with a plum-filled, medium finish.
The merlot is straightforward and is varietally correct in expression.
Bottle Note: Inspired by explorers Lewis & Clark who during their 1805 expedition thought a distinctive ridge above the Columbia River resembled an overturned canoe. We’d argue the best exploration is of discovering the delicious quality in every bottle of Canoe Ridge Vineyard wine. Uncork your expedition and enjoy. Gorgeous dark berry aromas mix with flavors of currant, cherry and a candied violet hint of the long, silky finish.
