Concha Y Toro, Marques de Casa Concha Carmenere 2020, Peumo, Chile
Tasting Note: A Chilean carmenere that is fruit-forward with some pleasing herbal wisps.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, black cherry, red currant, black olive, hay and forest floor.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied carmenere has medium-intensity, black-and-red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and just-ripened, medium tannin.
The wine could be paired with a range of items including the shrimp I’m enjoying in a cream sauce this evening.
An affable, straightforward carmenere.
Bottle Note: The grapes are sourced from our century-old vineyard in Peumo in the Cachapoal River Basin located between the Andes and the coastal mountain ranges. The soil is deep and of alluvial origin, our intense carmenere offers aromas of plums, blackcurrants, spices, and black pepper that combine with a smooth, elegant texture, which is very distinctive of its Peumo origin.
