Domaine Bousquet, Gran Malbec 2018, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina

Tasting Note: A malbec with some heft, body and abounding with ripe black fruit.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, black plum, red currant, and black raspberry with hints of black cherry and hibiscus.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied malbec has medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin ultimately completing with a blackberry-infused finish.

The wine has moments of complexity and concentration that don’t overwhelm the palate.

An ideal pairing with grilled meats or the Croque Monsieur I’m enjoying it with today.

Bottle Note: Domaine Bousquet combines the know-how of French winemaking with Argentina’s exceptional climate and terroir. The vineyard is located at the foothills of the Andes, at 1,200 m.a.s.l. Its thermal amplitude contributes to obtaining fully ripened grapes with an excellent acidity. The grapes are hand-picked and the vineyard is certified organic. This wine is an elegant wine with intense aromas, red berried with silky and soft rounded tannins, notes of blackberries, spices and truffles provide aromatic complexity for an exquisite finish. This wine has been fermented in barrels and aged in French oak for 10 months. This wine goes well with grilled red meats, cheeses as well as chocolate-based desserts. Bottle No: 97380.
