Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, Sancerre 2013, Loire, France, Wine Casual

Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, Sancerre 2013, Loire, France

Tasting Note: Behold the elusive red Sancerre made from pinot noir grape and overshadowed by Sancerre proper made from sauvignon blanc for which the region is more well known.

Medium-intensity ruby in color this wine has an aromatic nose of earthy red cherry, red currant, red plum, blossom and forest floor.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied pinot noir reveals earthy, restrained, red fruit flavors suggested on the nose with red plum and red cherry flavors in the lead.

The wine is medium-plus in acidity and in tannin which has a velvety, somewhat green, tannin profile.

There is midpalate complexity and weight to the wine which is pleasing.
