Domaine Pré Baron, Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Loire, France
Tasting Note: Sauvignon blanc in the attractive, traditional-Loire, old-world style that reminds you why the world fell in love with sauvignon blanc before the new world popularized the over-ripe, fruit-forward style.
Pale-intensity lemon-green in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of green apple, grapefruit, jasmine, freshly-cut grass, forest floor, crushed shells and lemon-citrus.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied sauvignon blanc has soft, medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose with well-integrated fruit and savory notes supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium-plus finish.
Complexity abounds as the herbal notes bring the wine together.
This wine is the opposite of the quaffable sauvignon blanc you’re likely used to; it’s sauvignon blanc’s authentic self.
Bottle Note: An archetypal Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, the aromas are fresh and brisk with notes of herbs and grapefruit, followed by a rich and focused palate, with lovely minerality and crisp acidity.
