Domaine Weinbach Schlossberg, Riesling 2018, Alsace Grand Cru, France
Tasting Note: A grand cru riesling with a gentle, floral character and attractive aromatics.
Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of green pear, fresh green apple, starfruit, lychee, white peach, lemon zest and blossom.
On the palate the dry medium-bodied riesling has medium-plus-intensity, orchard-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and completing with a citrusy, medium-plus finish.
The wine is complex while also retaining a brightness to it.
A perfect wine to enjoy in warm weather when you want something in your glass with a low alcohol level.
Bottle Note: The 75 acres of Domaine Weinbach are some of the finest vineyards on the hills and valley of Kayserberg. They include the prestigious Grands Crus Scholossberg, Furstentum, Mambourg and Marckrain, as well as the renowned Altenbourg and Clos des Capucins, each of which imparts its individual character to the wines. The Clos, surrounds the chateau, a former Capucin monastery established in 1612. The primary concern at the Domaine is to produce the highest quality grapes which express the personality and the diversity of our unique terroirs. Low yields, organic/biodynamic farming, handpicking of grapes at their optimum maturity, and slow natural yeast fermentation in ancient, large oak casks all contribute to the intensity and balance of the wines. Riesling is the aristocrat of Alsace wines: proud, classy and stylish with a fine, subtle and complex character. The Domaine produces intensely concentrated, flowery dry Rieslings. They are superb with fish, seafood, shellfish and white meat courses.
