Gaia Thalassitis 2015 – Tropical Fruit Flavors Ride a Wave of Tartness

Gaia, Thalassitis 2015, Santorni, Greece, Wine Casual

Gaia, Thalassitis 2015, Santorni, Greece

Tasting Note: A tart, dry, acidic palate cleanser with tropical-fruit flavors riding on a wave of tartness.

Lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic and floral nose of melon, pear, pineapple, under-ripe apricot and hints of citrus.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied assyrtiko has medium-plus-to-high acidity along with tart, green fruit on the attack with some minerality on the midpalate through to a long finish.

Pair with food to tame and cut the acidity.

Bottle Note: Grape Variety – Assyrtiko. Episkopi Vineyard – Santorini. Grape Yield – Approximately .21 hl/hec.
