Herdade do Rocim Amphora Tinto 2019 – A Gorgeous, Amphora-Aged, Alentejo Red Blend

Herdade do Rocim, Amphora Tinto 2019, Alentejo, Portugal, Wine Casual

Herdade do Rocim, Amphora Tinto 2019, Alentejo, Portugal

Tasting Note: A gorgeous, amphora-aged, Alentejo red blend that channels some midpalate elements of Loire cabernet franc.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, raspberry, dried-crushed violet blossom, pencil shavings, and blackberry with hints of dried mushroom and forest floor.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied red blend has medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin.

The midpalate is filled with combination of tart-and-ripe fruit elements which yield complexity courtesy in part to the wine’s indigenous-yeast fermentation.

A red blend that will make you want to try more Amphora-aged wines.

Bottle Note: With this Herdade do Rocim pays tribute to the ancient tradition of vine and winegrowing. The winemaking process followed the traditional procedure in clay plots, with no temperature control. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts, without any addition, or correction of must. Mereto (50%), Tinta Grossa (30%), Trincadeira (15%), Aragonez (5%).
