Hugues Beaulieu, Les Costières de Pomerols Picpoul de Pinet 2019, France
Tasting Note: A riper-vintage Picpoul de Pinet from Languedoc that shows the floral and acid-friendly style that makes it a dependable palate refresher.
Pale-intensity lemon-green in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of green apple, lychee, starfruit, lime zest, white peach, blossom and orange blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied Picpoul de Pinet has medium-plus-intensity, fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and completing with a floral, medium-plus finish.
The wine is mostly steely in texture with some punctuated creamy notes.
An ideal accompaniment with seafood like the scallops I’m enjoying with it tonight.
