L.A. Cetto, Reserva Privada Nebbiolo 2018, Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico
Tasting Note: Who knew there was nebbiolo being produced in Mexico, and that it’s actually this good?
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red cherry, black raspberry, hibiscus, strawberry, cranberry and blossom.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied nebbiolo has medium-plus-intensity, red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin ultimately completing with a medium-plus finish.
Complexity abounds throughout the wine which is warm-weather tilted but still showing depth.
Not that Italy needs to worry about Mexican nebbiolo for the time being, but this is definitely interesting stuff for Barolo and nebbiolo lovers to try.
