Michel Chapoutier, Les Vignes de Bila-Haut 2015 Rouge, Côtes du Roussillon Villages, France
Tasting Note: Taste purple wrapped in delicate cedar and hints of spice.
Deep ruby in color this wine has an aromatic nose of red plum, red cherry, raspberry and black currant along with cedar and vanilla baking spice.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied red blend tastes “purple” with a relaxed blend of red and black fruit complimented by a layer of well-integrated, medium-plus tannin, and a dash of white pepper that completes with a long, light-fruit-infused finish.
A red to repeat.
Enjoy on its own or pair with a range of dishes including white meat and lighter red-meat dishes.
Bottle Note: The complexity of Bila-Haut reflects the diverse terroirs and wind of the Midi. By meticulously hand-harvesting the best grapes from the best vineyards of the Roussillon, a well-known Rhone producer has transformed his magic to the Languedoc and created a wine with finesse. The wine is fleshy, well-structured with aromas of black cherry and the warm and savage soils of the Roussillon area.
