Quinta dos Carvalhais, Touriga Nacional 2015, Dão, Portugal, Wine Casual

Quinta dos Carvalhais, Touriga Nacional 2015, Dão, Portugal

Tasting Note: A silky, elegant version of Portugal’s most acclaimed grape that will make you look for more Touriga Nacional whenever you visit a wine store.

Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry puree, black plum, violet, fig and rosehip with hints of clove baking spice.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied Touriga Nacional has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported my medium acidity, and ripe, well-integrated, medium tannin.

The wine is supple in texture with midpalate complexity, concentration and a just-ripened-black fruit character running throughout the length of the taste.

Bottle Note: Produced by Sogrape Vinhos, this wine is made exclusively with the traditional red variety of the Dão region Touriga Nacional – originating wines of great quality. Quinta dos Carvalhais Touriga-Nacional has floral and ripe red fruit aromas perfectly balanced with the new French oak barrels, where it aged for 12 months. With a deep purple color, this full-bodied wine has velvety tannins beautifully balanced with the acidity and an elegant finish, anticipating a very good aging potential. In order to preserve its highest quality this wine was bottled without cold-stabilization treatment and it is therefore natural that it develops a slight deposit. It must be decanted.
