Setter Ridge Vineyards, Cabernet Franc 2016, Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania
Tasting Note: Cabernet franc made in a new-world style with ripe fruit and complexity absent the grassiness that often characterizes old-world cabernet franc.
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red plum, bramble, cinnamon baking spice and raspberry puree.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied cabernet franc has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose along with some orange-citrus-peel notes.
There is midpalate complexity and purity of fruit in a riper, cabernet-franc style.
Bottle Note: Setter Ridge Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery in Eastern Pennsylvania. The high elevations, cool temperatures with eastern and southern slopes make an ideal location for cool climate grapes of Northern Europe. Blackberries and cedar on the nose lead to a full mouthfeel of brambles and black pepper with slight tannins on the barrel aged cabernet franc.
