Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Mourvedre 2015, Sandy Lane Vineyards, San Francisco Bay, California
Tasting Note: A red-fruit-first mourvedre with florality and depth.
Medium-intensity purple in color, this wine has a medium-plus-intensity nose of boysenberry, black plum, prune, red raspberry, blossom, red cherry and blueberry puree.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied mourvedre delivers medium-intensity, red-and-black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and slightly-velvety, medium-plus tannin.
The wine has a smooth texture, with midpalate complexity and depth of flavor.
The mourvedre is very good in quality and demonstrates varietal typicity in an accessible style.
Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classic blends. This 100% mourvedre is garnet colored, rich and velvety with aromas of forest floor and leather, with taste components of plums, currants, and truffles. Serve with roasted or smoked meats, game, duck, pork or venison, especially in hearty sauces. Also, good with mushroom risotto, lentils and spaghetti Bolognese.
